Overview
SpeedLoop (“we”, “the app”) is a personal trip-recording app for iPhone, Apple Watch, and CarPlay. This policy explains what data the app processes and why.
We design SpeedLoop so that your routes and history stay under your control. We do not sell personal data.
Data we process
Location and motion: GPS coordinates, course, speed, and timestamps while you record, plus related map display data.
Segments and history: segment names, pins, colors, saved runs, ghosts, reports, and optional road events you log.
Settings and preferences: units, map appearance, control size, language, and similar options stored on device (and synced if you enable iCloud).
Subscriptions: StoreKit / App Store purchase status for SpeedLoop Pro. Payment details are handled by Apple, not by us.
Optional media: if you enable Music Controls, the app may read Now Playing metadata via Media Library permission you grant.
Diagnostics: standard OS crash or analytics mechanisms may apply if you opt in at the system level; the app does not require a separate SpeedLoop account.
How we use data
To record, display, replay, compare, and share your own trips on the device.
To sync your library across your Apple devices when iCloud / CloudKit sync is enabled.
To provide Pro features you purchase through the App Store.
Storage and sync
Primary storage is on your device (SwiftData / local database).
If iCloud sync is on, route and segment data may be stored in your personal iCloud container via CloudKit. Apple’s iCloud terms and privacy policy also apply.
Exported files (for example `.speedloop` backups or share images/clips) leave the app only when you choose to export or share them.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
Third parties you choose: Apple Maps (Navigate), App Store billing, Mapbox or a custom OSRM endpoint you configure for Pro map matching, and any share destination you pick (Photos, Messages, social apps).
Map matching providers receive route geometry needed to snap a track when you request matching; they are not used for advertising profiles.
Your choices
You can deny or revoke Location, Motion, Media Library, Photos, and similar permissions in iOS Settings.
You can delete routes and segments in the app, turn off iCloud sync, or delete the app to remove on-device data.
Manage App Store subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings.
Children
SpeedLoop is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). Do not use the app if you are under that age.
Changes
We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
